Church Missions

Calvary is very involved in missions, both financially and physically. The Mission Committee is comprised of members of the congregation. Calvary’s Leadership Team budgets the amount the Mission Committee spends each year. The organizations the Mission Committee supports are local, national, and international.

Bethesda Mission

There is another group that packs groceries for Bethesda Mission’s food bank outreach located at Mission Central in Mechanicsburg. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month. Since beginning in 2006, we have packed over 48,000 bags of groceries.

Compassion International

Calvary sponsors two children through the Compassion International program. We financially support a boy in Haiti and a girl in Kenya. This support enables these children to attend the Compassion development program in their respective countries, where committed staff know, love, and encourage the children. They participate in classes and activities at their center each week. This time is tailored to their growth in four important areas: spiritual life, physical well-being, cognitive ability, and emotional health. We also remember these children throughout the year by writing letters and sending cards on their birthdays and Christmas.

New Hope Ministries

New Hope Ministries is a food bank located in Dillsburg. We support this ministry financially and with food that is donated by church members. We also participate in their Christmas program each year where members purchase gifts that New Hope clients have indicated they would like.

Homeless Veterans Project

This project was undertaken by the Fellowship Sunday School class in 2021. We purchase personal hygiene items, food, clothing, and other items to go to local homeless veterans.

Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoe Box Program

We pack approximately 200 shoe boxes each year that are distributed worldwide. These boxes of toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and clothing are given out by “Samaritan’s Purse” to children around the world who have never received a gift. All of the children are given the opportunity to participate in a 12-lesson discipleship program, “The Greatest Journey.” Through this course, which includes Bible stories and Scripture memorization, they learn how to follow Christ in their daily lives as they tell their family and friends about Him.

There are many organizations that we help financially. Come, get involved at Calvary to see the many opportunities where you can help!
